Who Am I?

My name is Daniel Decker (as you might have guessed from the URL), and I'm an aspiring data analyst. Learning new things is a big passion of mine, and I love using my skills in data analysis to make sense of the world around me.

I was born in Pittsburgh, PA and lived there until I was 18 years old. After leaving home, I moved to Utah to start my undergrad in Information Systems at Brigham Young University. In 2019, I decided to take a quick two year break to go on a mission trip for my church. Half of that time I was in Mexico on the Yúcatan Peninsula, and the other half I was in California around the Antelope Valley area.

After returning home, I dove more into the technical side of my major. I participated in an on-campus internship where I researched augmented and virtual reality, and some possible market opportunities for advertising there. Following that opportunity, I became the technical lead on a massive implementation project for BYU Concessions. Following the completion of the implementation, I decided to branch out even more and became a business analyst for BYU Dining Technology. There, I was really able to hone my SQL and other analytical skills.

I recently graduated from BYU, and was hired post-graduation to continue working on another system implementation for all of BYU Dining. In the meantime, I'm continuing my education through Georgia Tech's Master of Science in Analytics program.

When I have free time, I love to sing. I've joined multiple choirs through BYU, and it's been a blast. I even had the opportunity to sing under the direction of Grammy Award winner Eric Whitacre. I also love being outside and exploring new places.

I also love trying new foods! I'm somewhat of a french fry connoisseur, and if you explore my page some more you'll find my list of top fries in the Utah Valley/Salt Lake Valley area.

Thanks for stopping by my page! Feel free to take a look at some of the projects I've worked on.
